    Lets face it strides are being made in the field of autism research; however we are still in the prehistoric era of this developmental disease/ As a therapist who has worked with autistic children, two friends who each have one autistic child each; we have not doen anything except for npotism to the families, therapy intervention stragtegiests with more team approaches needed for each autistic individual.     From the website “Autism Speaks”, I learned that there are different spectrums of autism that range to high functioning as in “Asperger’s Syndrome”.

    Children with autism are often easily distracted. They also tend to have behavioral issues in school. I actually interned in some elementary schools one in which I helped a student who was autistic. He was the smartest 1st grader I’ve ever met, but he was always getting in trouble at school :(
